Nick Martin has over twenty five years of corporate finance experience including leading positions at Evolution Securities China, Durlacher Corporation plc (FTSE-250 PLC main board Director), Collins Stewart Limited and J P Morgan Cazenove.
During his career he has executed transactions totaling over US$ 0.15 Trillion and has been actively involved in start-up venture capital, development capital, investment, private placements, privatizations and M&A activities, as well as a multitude of IPOs and fundraisings. Nick has led or co-led transactions for a wide range of companies in Asia, UK, Europe and emerging markets and across a wide range of sectors, including particularly TMT/New Media, energy, logistics/transport, retail, media, biotech / healthcare and resources. He has been actively involved in privatizations in the UK and overseas in Europe and Eastern Europe including Oil and Gas companies such as Enterprise Oil and Britoil, British Telecom, British Gas, British Airways, British Airports and the country’s water and electricity industries.
He was appointed (by Rt. Hon Margaret Thatcher) as a Cabinet Special Adviser 1988-89 to assist in privatizations and the investment management of public assets.
Nick is a Fellow of the Securities Institute and a qualified barrister and holds an M.A. in Law from Cambridge University. He has served on a number of Boards including a FTSE-250 London Stock Exchange quoted company and private and public appointments by the Government in executive and non–executive capacities. Current or recent non-executive appointments include the Audit/Finance Board of Cambridge University; the predecessor to what is now Imperial College Healthcare Trust; as Chair of Westminster College – the leading vocational College in London; to some of the UK’s largest NHS Hospital Trusts, including currently the London Ambulance Service; and to one of the largest Housing Associations in London and the South.
Nick conducts training and provides consultancy widely on a range of finance, public sector, business and legal matters, particularly for and in emerging markets in Asia, Russia and Eastern Europe. In recent months these assignments have included high level training on financial, industry & political matters at the Bank of China in Beijing, at Moscow State University and MGIMO in Moscow, to the London School of Business, Cambridge International and to BDO Accountants. Also Nick has trained visiting Chinese delegations, such as the State Asset Commission (SASAC), the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee (CPPCC), (their upper House of Parliament), the leading Companies in Jiangsu Province, Bankers from Tianjin and other areas of China, Sinopec, and the Aviation Industry of China (AVIC).
